Beth and Tom – The Cherry Barn

The Cherry Barn… when I get a wedding cake booking here I immediately know that its going to be epic. Mel and Steve who own and run the venue pour their heart and soul into making it the best possible experience for their couples and the most gorgeous souls seem to get drawn to Mel’s enthusiasm and passion which always reflects across the whole wedding day.

This was definitely the case for Beth and Tom who chose some of the best suppliers in the industry to make their wedding styling and experience second to none.

Marcel Grabowski, the well known wedding photographer based in East Sussex with oodles of personality captured these beautiful shots and Jo at Moody Blooms floristry ALWAYS provides the most insane quality flowers. Locate to create did the styling including the dresser which the cake was sat on, myself and Jo stuffed the drawers with the most deliciously scented english roses, it truly was a sensory overload and don’t you agree the result was pretty special?

The cake itself was my signature lemon drizzle cake with swiss meringue buttercream, homemade lemon curd and lemon syrup laced through the sponge. The middle tier was chocolate mud cake with homemade salted caramel sauce and chocolate swiss meringue buttercream and the bottom tier was vanilla sponge soaked with champagne syrup, vanilla bean swiss meringue buttercream and English strawberry conserve. I used white chocolate to created the semi frosted effect and finally dressed the cake with Jo’s fresh flowers.

The Cherry Barn itself is set on a working farm with views out to fruit orchards, lots of windows and light floods in, the barn feels luxurious yet characterful with some rustic edges. Its perfect for a relaxed, boho to more informal style wedding and the ceremony is either held outside overlooking the orchards or inside the barn depending on the weather.
